The Effect of Concentration, Temperature, and pH on the Formation of Hyaluronic Acid–Surfactant Nanohydrogels

The assembly of colloidal hyaluronic acid (HyA, as a polysaccharide) based hydrogel particles in an aqueous medium is characterized the present paper, with emphasis on particular case nanohydrogels formed by surfactant-neutralized polysaccharide networks. structural changes and particle formation process polysaccharide- cationic-surfactant-containing systems were induced charge neutralization ability hydrophobic interactions cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) under different conditions. Based rheological, light scattering, ζ-potential, turbidity, titration measurements, it can be concluded that preparation HyA-CTAB greatly controlled. results indicate more available negative charges detected polymer chain at smaller initial amounts HyA (cHyA < 0.10 mg/mL), where molecular solution formed. change pH has negligible effect (particle aggregation appears nCTAB/nHyA,monomer~1.0 every case), while temperature dependence critical micelle concentration (c.m.c.) CTAB determines complete forming nanohydrogels. our measurements confirm after appearance stable particles, take place, finally system occurs.
